     Quitting Smoking; the Role of Strong Motivation
Growing up was very interesting because of a friend you had. The friend made you feel more mature and seemed to help you fit in with your other peers. But in time, you discovered his dark side. He demands to be with you always; even if this makes you feel terrible. He did also cost you, your health dearly. And finally stole a part of your wages. Trying to break off in recent times but he has not let you. This is a false friend and this friend is “CIGARETTE “. This is the relationship smokers have with cigarette.
Some smokers see cigarette as an helper and they prefer it more than having someone around them. To them it is more than just a friend but an only friend. At times, people willinigly stop the art of smoking only to find them thirsty for it and seriously searching for it again. Why does tobacco have such a grip on people? It was discovered that
Tobacco products can be as addictive as illicit drugs
Inhaled nicotine may reach the brain in just seconds and
Smoking is often woven into a person’s life by its regular association with eating, drinking, conversing, the relief of stress.
It is possible to stop this harmful addiction. Should cigarette addicts use  medications to quit smoking?. The use of medications help smokers quit. The benefits of using medications will increase your chances of quitting by reducing withdrawal symptoms. But this is not effective on the long run. Some medications have potential side effects such as nausea, depression and suicidal thoughts. It is worthy to note that nicotine – replacement therapies simply provide another form of the drug, along with its health risk. In reality, therefore, the person using them is still in a state of addiction. Stopping smoking abruptly, makes smokers develop cool feet without the use of medications.
Withdrawal symptons includes sleeplessness, aching, itching, sweating and coughing as well as change in moods demonstrated by impatience,  proneness to anger, or even depression.
 However, if you want to quit smoking, you should at least have a very strong motivation. For one thing, consider how much better off you will be if you quit smoking.
You will save money. A pack –a- day habit can cost a fortune over the year. But when you make up your mind to quit, your money remains with you. This (money) can be used for a better thing.
Get more out of life. Life will be very pleasant when you give up smoking. When you stop smoking, your sense of taste and smell improves drastically, with an improved physical appearance.
Improvement in your well – being –health. Quitting smoking has major and immediate health benefits for you. You will be free from life treating sickness such as cancer, heart disease e.t.c
Family and friends will benefit a lot. Smoking hurts the health of those around you. It is believed that smoking causes death each yer from lung cancer and heart disease.
